Riley Schmidt and her seven-year-old brother were playing outside when a coyote dashed at them from across the street. Bolting through the backyard of their house in Oregon, the four-year-old girl screamed. With only seconds to react, quick-thinking Riley climbed on top of a plastic picnic table before her dad scooped her into his arms. With the coyote still on the loose, her brother ran and frantically warned his friend.
